Peshawar: Minster Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Tourism, Culture, Archelogy, Sports and Youth Affairs Atif Khan has said that the government has provided generous funds for the promotion and development of the tourism and sports industry in the tribal districts, according to news sources.
The government has planned to spend PKR 9.5 billion for the promotion of tourism and PKR 8.5 billion for the sports industry in the merged tribal districts. The minister assured that the development schemes dependant on this budget will be launched soon.

He revealed these initiatives while addressing an assembly held regarding this matter. The meeting was also attended by the secretary and director general of the sports sector.
The meeting was briefed regarding the details of various progressive schemes planned in this area. The minister admitted that the merged tribes have been neglected in the past, but now immediate steps are being taken to bring them at par with the other provinces.

He also said that PKR 3 billion are being utilised to create employment opportunities for the youth. He expressed hope that soon the development schemes and progressive opportunities will uplift the residents of the tribal districts.
