Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Tuesday (November 23) reached an agreement with the Industrialists Association Peshawar (IAP) to tackle pollution and environment-related issues, news sources reported.

As per the report, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) on Commerce and Industry Abdul Karim Khan and IAP President Malik Imran Ishaq reached the said agreement.
According to the agreement, the government would employ a consulting firm to provide recommendations and upgrade infrastructure to assist prevent environmental deterioration and pollution.
It was also agreed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) will employ a consulting agency to visit all chipboard and plastic bag manufacturing businesses within 7 days. The experts’ recommendations will be used to modernise the sector using new and improved technology.

KPEZDMC and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) both presented statistics and reports to the forum about current efforts and problems. It is worth noting that Pakistan has experienced an increase in smog occurrence in recent years, owing mostly to industrial and vehicle pollution.
