Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Tuesday announced its decision to form a committee for ‘restoring the city’s glory’, a news source reported. In order to revive the metropolis, the provincial government has constituted a 13-member committee to see to the proceedings.

The notification issued stated that Special Assistant to the KP Chief Minister (CM) on Local Government (LG) Kamran Bangash would chair the committee for restoring Peshawar City.
Committee members include expert on tourism, culture, & history Dr Ali Jan, Senior Journalist Ismail Khan, social activist Irfan Salim, youth activist & public policy expert Mohammad Usman, Architect Urban Development Tahir Khan, former Nazim Peshawar M Asim, LG Secretary, and various public representatives.
To this effect, Bangash stated that this was the first time in the history of the province that a government had formed such a committee.

Earlier, the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) had also added a new clause to its existing building by-laws – allowing the construction of high-rises in the city.
