Shabqadar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is planning to construct a sports complex worth PKR 800 million in the Mohmand Agency, a news source reported. The project will form part of the provincial government’s efforts to develop sports infrastructure in the newly merged tribal districts (NMTDs).

Sports director for the NMTDs Nawaz Khan made the announcement regarding the project during the inauguration ceremony of a sports festival at the Captain Roohullah Shaheed Sports Stadium in Ghallanai – headquarters of the Mohmand tribal district.
Director Khan stated that the provincial government had allocated PKR 7.5 billion for the development of sports infrastructure in the NMTDs. He added that it also planned on spending PKR 3 billion to conduct various sporting events across KP. He said that this measure would allow the relevant sports bodies to discover some of the hidden talents of the youth in the tribal districts.

Additionally, Nawaz revealed that following the merger of the tribal districts with KP, the provincial government had been quite keen to develop these areas.
Recently, a solar water scheme had become operational in Mohmand Village, indicating the rate at which work is being conducted in the area. This programme was part of the Micro Mitigation Project (MMP).
