Peshawar: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has decided to compensate the people whose land was used in rebuilding the Miramshah Bazaar in the North Waziristan tribal district, a news source reported. The government has allocated PKR 2.92 billion for this cause.

The administration had formed a 33-member committee of owners who had been affected by the reconstruction to assess the damage they had incurred. The district administration then fixed the compensation rate at PKR 1.5 million per marla, which was approved by the provincial cabinet during their meeting on June 14.

The Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement department of KP approved this compensation amount under the Accelerated Implementation Programme, for the fiscal year 2019-2020. Once the Finance department releases these funds, the deputy commissioner will have the duty to distribute it among the 342 owners whose land has been utilised for the project.
