Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on 23rd January, 2018 that providing improved and efficient municipal facilities to the people of KP is the top priority of the provincial government.
He said this at the signing ceremony of an MoU between the local government and Rural Development Department and Swiss Agency for Development for Cooperation (SDC).
He applauded SDC’s efforts for extending valuable financial support that will strengthen the work of the Water Supply and Sanitation Company operating in Peshawar and Mardan. The ceremony was attended by Country Director SDC Stephanie Burri, Senior Minister for Local Government Inayatullah, Minister Education Mohammad Atif Khan, District Nazim Mohammad Asim, Secretary Local Government Syed Jamaluddin Shah, CEO WSSP Peshawar Eng. Khanzeb, among other dignitaries.
The MoU involves a PKR 320 million grant and is expected to go to two municipal bodies, WSSP Peshawar and WSSP Mardan. The share for each is PKR 170 million and PKR 150 million, respectively.
To ensure transparent and judicious use of the grant, CM Pervez Khattak has directed for the constitution of a steering committee. This will be headed by the Secretary Local Government.
