Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan on Tuesday (September 06) approved cash compensation for rehabilitation of the houses affected by flood, news sources reported. The cash will be distributed to the needy after proper verification.

During the inaugural meeting of the steering committee of the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund, CM Mehmood unveiled the rehabilitation package. He stated that the government’s priority is rehabilitating flood victims, including their return to normal life routines.
He directed concerned officials to expedite relief operations in flood-affected areas and provide tents and other relief materials. The CM further asked concerned authorities to open flood relief accounts in every commercial bank to facilitate donors. The meeting was informed that the government’s efforts are now concentrated in the Upper Kohistan district, where flood relief activities are taking place.

It is vital to note that KP is one of the most impacted provinces due to the recent flood, with millions of people displaced and thousands of homes damaged. As per the federal government’s estimates, the flood has affected 33 million people, causing USD 10 billion in material damage to agriculture and infrastructure across the country.
