Peshawar: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC) held its first meeting to discuss the establishment of 10 economic zones and two Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the province, with plans for four new economic zones and one SEZ underway. During a meeting with the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education (IC&TE, Abdul Karim Tordhir, at its headquarters in Peshawar, the officials focused on discussing the company’s efforts toward industrialisation, its current performance, and future objectives.
Key highlights of the meeting included the Ghazi Economic Zone has been completed, while the Mansehra Economic Zone is ready for commercial launch. Additionally, progress updates were provided on various zones, including construction activities and provision of electricity at the Hattar Economic Zone, development of commercial areas at Gadoon, and allotment of units at the Rashakai Special Economic Zone under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Furthermore, expansions have been completed at the Nowshera Economic Zone, and notable performance was reported at the Export Promotion Zone Risalpur, which hosts the world’s largest matchbox manufacturing plant. Construction work at the Chitral Economic Zone is finished.
