Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Department collected over PKR 3.4 billion in taxes for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19, a news source reported. KP Excise Taxation & Narcotics Control Director General (DG) Syed Fayaz Ali Shah revealed this information, stating that the department collected a total sum of PKR 3.456 billion.

Addressing a press conference at his office, the DG said that a major portion of the collected taxes came from urban immovable property tax. He added that in this tax category, KP Excise department collected a total of PKR 1.285 billion against a target of 1.1 billion.
The DG also informed the press conference that the department had a set target of collecting PKR 3.364 billion in taxes during the previous FY. He added that it surpassed the target by collecting over PKR 3.4 billion.

Shah said that the department is ready for the FY 2019-20 with a plan to carry out fresh surveys in order to expand the tax net.
