Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government plans to introduce an online system for the public procurement process and award of contracts to ensure maximum transparency, according to a news story published on Tuesday (March 15).

In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan, it was decided to introduce the new e-procurement system, developed by the KP Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (KPPRA). The meeting was informed that the system will include all the required features for the award of contracts and procurement.
Moreover, it was decided that all the provincial government departments will be conducting procurement under the new system from the beginning of the next financial year. The CM termed the new procurement system important for transparency. He added that the online system will help in eliminating malpractices in the award of contracts and procurement process, and make sure quality is maintained for construction work.

It is pertinent to note that the government has already introduced an e-tendering and e-bidding system for contracts in works departments.
