Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Thursday stressed on the swift and timely completion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, a news source reported. As per the publication, he notified the government departments concerned that ‘no further delay in the completion of the BRT project would be tolerated’.

CM Mahmood Khan, Minister Transport Shah Muhammad Khan, Minister Finance Taimur Salim Jhagra and senior officials of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), local government representatives, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) officials, Trans Peshawar, Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and other relevant civic authorities attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the ongoing work on the BRT project and the chief minister directed the relevant departments to accelerate the work and finish the project in the assigned time. He also emphasised the significance of the BRT project, saying that the project is for public welfare as to resolving the city’s traffic congestion issues.

The BRT project includes 68-kilometres long feeder routes. The roads on both sides of the feeder route are also developed under the same project. In November last year, the provincial government had announced that 87 percent of the project was already complete.
