Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minster (CM) Mahmood Khan, during a meeting held on Tuesday, reviewed the progress of the development work on the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and the Dera Ismail Khan-Peshawar Expressway projects, a news source reported. Further, he discussed the impact that these initiatives will have towards the uplift of the southern districts.

The CM informed members of the meeting that a group of consultants hired to conduct the Dera-Peshawar Expressway project survey had commenced with its data compilation efforts – scheduled for completion till January 2020.
He said that the highway was an important infrastructure project which will connect the southern districts with other major road networks in the province. It would also facilitate the growth of industrialisation and tourism in the region.

Moreover, Khan said that the Daraband SEZ in Dera Ismail Khan would improve the economic conditions of the region; providing locals with various employment opportunities. He added that the industrialisation of KP was of utmost importance to create new livelihood opportunities for the locals.
The participants reviewed the progress on the development of the Swat and Rashakai SEZs, Insaf Rozgar Scheme, Buner Marble City, and Mohmand Marble Industrial Zone. As per reports, the development work of the Rashakai SEZ would be completed within the next 10 days, while the PC-1 for the Buner Marble City’s construction was recently submitted to the authorities concerned for their approval.
