Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Monday (July 26), approved the action plan for the execution of Industrial Policy 2020 that includes steps to revive failing and defunct industries, news sources reported.

The approval for this plan was provided in a meeting held under the chair of KP CM. According to the decision, the industries will be provided with soft loans, uninterrupted power supply, roads and communication infrastructures to enhance the business activities. Additionally, the meeting also decided on the establishment of ten Industrial Zones promised under the Industrial Policy 2020 within 10 years.
It was also announced that small industrial estates in Abbottabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Dara Adman Khel, Shah-Kas, and Mardan would also be granted the status of Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The chief minister stated that the provisional government will ensure that the industries follow the government-sanctioned minimum wage of PKR 21,000 for the workers.

Moreover, Mr Mahmood directed the authorities to issue No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to the industries within the promised time frame to facilitate industrialisation. He further said that the industries will be provided with the electricity produced indigenously.
