Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mehmood Khan has directed the authority concerned to review and revise its proposed urban property tax rate, a news source reported. He gave this directive while presiding over a meeting to discuss the development of the Hattar Special Economic Zone.

The KP CM also announced that the proposed revision in the urban property tax should be carried out in consultation with the traders’ community. He asked the officials concerned to finalise a proposal and share it with him within 15 days.

Additionally, CM Khan and members of the meeting received a detailed briefing on urban property tax, commercial tax rate, tax collection mechanisms, and the revenue collected by the provincial taxation authority. They were also informed that work had been initiated on the geographic information system, in order to devise a transparent and comprehensive mechanism for the collection of urban property tax.

At the conclusion of the meeting, CM Khan instructed officials to form a model for tax collection that followed the practices of international tax authorities.
