Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to open the first phase of the Swat Motorway to the public by the end of August — a news source reported. The project is said to be of the utmost importance for the tourism sector and economy of the Malakand division.

The CM issued these directions while chairing a meeting of the Communication and Works Department in Peshawar. During the session, the attendees reviewed the progress of the Swat Motorway and other projects being carried out by the department.
The CM was briefed that the development work on the road itself had been completed, including the construction of five bridges and two tunnels. In addition, the Chakdara Interchange had been constructed as well.

The issues regarding the acquisition of the requisite land for the development of the second phase of the project was also discussed. The meeting was briefed that the PC-1 in this regard had been completed, and had been submitted for approval.
