Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (KP) Mehmood Khan on Wednesday directed the departments concerned to formulate a plan in an attempt to uplift the housing and construction sectors in the province, according to a news source.

He issued these instructions during a meeting; further stating that any necessary changes to the rule, regulations, and bylaws of land purchase should be facilitated. He also directed the officials concerned to amend building approval processes and other procedures to make the sector more attractive for private investors.

The meeting’s participants also discussed how to create employment opportunities in these sectors during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and reviewed legislative matters regarding tax exemptions in the industry. Additionally, they discussed how to protect investors, and talked about extending loan facility through banks to these investors. The CM also expressed his views regarding the illegal construction along the Swat River and its resulting pollution.
