Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan recently directed the officials concerned to ensure that the groundbreaking for the Cities Improvement Project (CIP) was completed by the end of this year, news sources reported earlier today (July 3).

As per an official handout, the said directives were given in a meeting chaired by the CM regarding the progress made on the project so far. The KP government is planning to launch a mega scheme aimed at improving and strengthening the municipal infrastructures/services in its five major cities; Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mardan, Kohat, and Swat.

According to the information available, the CIP project is being launched with monetary assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Under the Cities Improvement Project, several municipality uplift schemes will be executed in the selected cities to enhance their municipal infrastructure and enhance departmental capabilities.
CM Mahmood Khan instructed the officials concerned to finish the detailed engineering designs for all the CIP sub–projects in order for practical work to be initiated at the earliest opportunity.
