Peshawar: Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has called for establishing need-driven developmental schemes, a news source reported. He directed the province’s elected representatives to identify areas for need-driven developmental projects within their respective jurisdictions.

The CM said that the representatives should invest their energies in resolving the issues of poor people.
He was talking to the MPAs in attendance at his office, and urged them to plan for uplifting the areas identified. He added that the poor needed to be made confident of the fact that their elected representatives were also the custodians of their rights.
Additionally, the CM lauded the government’s efforts to stop the misuse of resources. He said that these provisions were now rightly being diverted towards the cause of public welfare.
The CM told the MPAs that the government will continue to prioritise reconstruction and rehabilitation of the newly merged tribal areas. He added that the people residing in these districts would be made part of the national development stream.

The CM assured that he himself would visit the tribal districts, along with other parts of the province. He plans to stay updated with the projects’ ground realities, and work out relevant development and welfare strategies.
Talking about the 10-year reconstruction and rehabilitation plan for the tribal areas, CM Khan said that it constituted one of the government’s ultimate development goals, and so would not be compromised.
