Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Wednesday provided his approval to the construction of 100-kilometre-long roads in South Waziristan’s Mehsud belt, a news source reported. He further directed the officials concerned to commence with the development of all schemes that had remained pending due to law and order situation in the region.

He sanctioned the schemes during a meeting held to review the implementation of various development and social sector service delivery schemes in Dera Ismail (DI) Khan Division. The participants also discussed the ongoing and proposed development schemes to be included in the Annual Development Programme of the Financial Year (FY) 2020-21

The KP CM stated that the provincial government was prioritising the development of South Waziristan – with a special focus on the Mehsud belt. He added that the provincial executive would also launch work on the Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway and the Chashma Right Bank Canal projects.
