Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, on Thursday, approved establishment of a sports city in Regi Model Town Peshawar under the management of Directorate General Sports – a news source reported. He also directed that the necessary steps to launch and finish the construction work should be done on time.

The CM was also briefed on the progress that has been made on the project so far. He was informed that six consultancy firms had offered their services for the work on the sports city. The final decision on the choice of consultant, however, will be made through public advertisement in fair and transparent manner.
The sports city will have nine (09) holes golf course; A Class hostel for 400 players, football ground with floodlights; multi-purpose boxing arena; and, a martial arts indoor gymnasium among other facilities. The martial arts arena will have facility for matches of sports like Karate, Judo, Wushu, Taekwondo, Jujitsu, and Gymnastics.

The project will also have a facility for cycling wooden velodrome which will be developed at an approximate cost of PKR 100 million.
