The government has authorised the policy to alleviate future environmental issues and provide effective policy actions in the event of a climate disaster. In an interview with the media, CM Mehmood stated that the climate change strategy has been separated into numerous categories based on priorities. It includes short-term, medium-term, and long-term steps/action plans. Moreover, the new policy has identified 129 variables that are contributing to or worsening climate change, as well as 172 environmentally favourable practices. The policy calls for effective steps to reduce overpopulation, pollution, contamination of natural water courses, deforestation, unplanned construction and housing, and disruption of forest and natural habitats.’

Furthermore, the strategy has emphasised the province’s vulnerability to forest fires, locust invasions, glacier melting, and heat waves.
It is crucial to highlight that the country has been affected by a catastrophic flood, which has resulted in the relocation of 33 million people and material loss of USD 10 billion due to crop failure and infrastructural damage.
