Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet approved the launch of the Insaf Food Card – under which as many as five million deserving people will be provided PKR 2,100 per month, according to news published on May 17.

It was decided in the 71st meeting of the cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan. Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif mentioned that the PKR 25.92 billion will be reserved for the said scheme in the new fiscal year. He disclosed that the deserving people will be selected through the authentic data collected by the administration of the Ehsaas Programme. Moreover, the SPCM Saif informed that an agreement will be signed with the Bank of Khyber to issue Insaf Food Card like ATM Card.

During the meeting, the cabinet also approved the allocation of 268 kanals and 10 marlas of land to the sports department for the construction of the sports complex on a lease basis. The cabinet approved the solarisation of 7,000 mosques in the province. SPCM Saif informed that the cabinet has approved increasing the quantity of wheat procurement to 1.4 million metric tonnes for a smooth supply of wheat to the flour mills.
