Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet is all set to hold a meeting today (Thursday) to approve the COVID-19 ordinance for the province, a news source reported. The meeting will also discuss a 15-point agenda to control the spread of the virus.

The meeting, to be chaired by KP Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan, would receive a briefing on the ongoing coronavirus situation in the province, along with the consequent response of the authorities concerned and future course of action for prevention.
A senior government official stated that the approval of the COVID-19 ordinance would enable the KP government to take the necessary measures for containing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

In other agendas, the provincial cabinet meeting scheduled for today will also approve the amendments to KP Local Government (LG) Act 2013 and sanction rules on the demarcation of LG. Furthermore, the meeting is likely to approve the establishment of a provincial power management and transmission company.
