According to the officially released statement, a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz has ordered the establishment of ramps in all government buildings. In addition, the authorities concerned have been directed to make these ramps mandatory under the new building code — in a bid to facilitate differently-abled people. The chief secretary stated that the government would only approve the construction of those structures that provide facilities like ramps and special washrooms for people with disabilities.
The meeting also ordered the relevant officials to install a viable firefighting system in all government departments in order to secure precious lives and records in case of emergencies.
