Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Friday allocated PKR 1.09 billion for 21 ongoing and 6 new tourism projects in its Budget 2020-21 — a news source reported. In this regard, PKR 788.501 million have been allocated for the ongoing projects, while PKR 305 million will used for new projects during (Fiscal Year) FY2020-21.

During a budget speech, KP Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra stated that the tourism sector was a major priority for the provincial government. Breaking down the funds allocations, he revealed that PKR 80 million had been dedicated for the development of the Mahudand Lake, with additional funds worth PKR 80 million having been allocated for the development of Chorr Allai as a tourist spot.

Additionally, the government has earmarked PKR 510 million for the tourism department and its regional offices. A further PKR 290 million have been dedicated for organizing tourism and culture related events, while another PKR 250 million have been set aside for the development of camping pods sites and rest houses in different parts of the province.
