Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Govt, under Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has revealed plans to alleviate traffic congestion in Peshawar by introducing a local train service, according to a news source on March 25.

As disclosed in the details, this initiative was discussed during a meeting at the CM House, and the meeting covered a range of developmental issues affecting Peshawar, including healthcare, security, traffic management, infrastructure, clean water provision, and sanitation. KP CM Gandapur emphasised the city’s importance and pledged to restore its former glory as a ‘city of blossoms’.
Proposed solutions included transitioning street lighting to solar energy and exploring private sector involvement in implementing train systems akin to the BRT model. Sanitation was identified as a pressing concern, with plans outlined for sustainable solutions such as underground infrastructure.

KP CM Gandapur stressed merit-based appointments in governmental institutions, free from political influence.
