Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet on Thursday ordered the government departments concerned to suggest schemes for inclusion in the executive’s 10-year development programme for the newly merged tribal districts, a news source reported.

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan issued orders to this effect during a meeting of the provincial cabinet. The participants discussed and approved the ‘Tribal Decade Strategy 2020-30’.
Information Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai later shared the details of the meeting. He said that the provincial government would allocate PKR 10.18 billion from its share of the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award for the development of the former FATA region.
He informed that KP’s share in the NFC Award amounts to PKR 54 billion. He added that the Punjab government would provide funds worth 38 billion for the development of the merged districts.

Moreover, the cabinet approved several other projects, including a memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreement for the preparation of a feasibility report to align Peshawar, Nowhere, Mardan and Charsadda’s rail tracks.
