Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced its decision to host the Annual Snow Sports Festival 2022 in different places across the Malakand division, according to news published on Monday (December 20).

As per the details, the festival will commence in the first week of January and will continue till April 2022. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Swat Junaid Khan stated that Malam Jabba – a hill station at 9,200 feet above sea level – attracts local and foreign tourists. The Malakand division is packed with natural beauty and rich culture that catch the eye of tourists.
Sharing details about the sports festival, it was disclosed that different activities and competitions including snow sculpture, snow tubing, and ice skating will be part of the festival. Other activities include mountain bike rally and skiing at Athrrot and Maho Dhand, off-road jeep rally in Malam Jabba, bicycle race, archery, futsal, Teqball, badminton, table tennis, martial arts, and athletics.
Talking about the locations of the festival, DC Khan revealed that activities will be organised in areas including Gabin Jabba, Mahu Daan, Malam Jabba, Dir Upper, Athrrot, Kumrat, and Badgoi.

Besides this, attendees can enjoy fireworks, concerts, and cultural events. The festival will also feature stalls of food, handicrafts, and traditional dresses as an added attraction, to boost the local economy and create employment opportunities. The government will construct link roads to all tourist spots to attract and facilitate tourists during this festival.
