Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Monday (March 21) approved five additional routes for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to facilitate commuters in the city, according to media reports.

KP Urban Mobility Authority’s board of directors held a meeting on Monday, under the chair of Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan. The approval for the additional feeder routes was given during the meeting. The CM has ordered the relevant officials to take necessary steps to ensure the newly-approved routes are functional by June. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Provincial Cabinet members Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, Shah Mohammad Wazir, and Taimur Saleem Jhagra, and other officials.
As per the details, an order has been placed for acquiring 86 new environment-friendly buses for the new routes. The approved routes include:
- 4-kilometre Khyber Road
- 7-kilometre Warsak Road
- 7.5-kilometre Hayatabad Phase-1

It is important to note that Peshawar BRT was given Gold Standard Service award from Technical Committee for providing environmental-friendly services to the people in February.
