Peshawar: In a bid to improve infrastructure in the province, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has released PKR 740 million for 44 Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs), news sources reported on April 16. The funds will be utilised for the infrastructure and payment of salaries to employees.

Reportedly, the funds have been released for all the tehsils including the tehsils of the newly merged districts of the province. The finance department in a notification said that the funds have been released to stabilise the financial conditions of the TMAs.
Following is the breakdown of the finds released:
- PKR 50 million have been released for the TMAs of Dera Ismail Khan and Tank
- PKR 30 million has been approved for the Paharpur and Kulachi
- PKR 15 million has been released for Paroa
- PKR 10 million has been set aside for the Drabin Kalan TMA

It was informed that the major chunk of the released funds will be used for paying salaries to the daily wagers and employees of the TMA before the Eid. The employees have been protesting the delay in salary disbursement for days now.
