Islamabad: Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Suh Sang-Pyo on Tuesday (August 17) said that Korean firms are satisfied with Pakistan’s economic progress and are interested in expanding collaboration in hydropower projects and other areas, news sources reported.

The ambassador met with the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin who informed him about the recent developments in the industrial sector and the government initiatives to boost corporations in various sectors.
The finance minister briefed Ambassador Sang-Pyo on the government’s recent comprehensive measures to boost industrialisation, particularly in the car manufacturing and IT industries. He also briefed him on the government’s short, medium, and long-term strategies to stimulate growth in key sectors. He praised the ambassador for the USD 500 million investment made by Korea in the information technology, education, and health programmes.

Tarin went on to say that the ultimate goal of the country’s industrialisation and foreign direct investment (FDI) is to create jobs, effective resource mobilisation, and industrial progress. He welcomed the Korean mobile manufacturing firm Samsung to Pakistan.
