Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is all ready to widen the route from Koral to Rawat, but is awaiting approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), according to a news report. The CDA has decided to expand this route by adding one more lane on each side of the Islamabad Expressway.
The CDA Road Directorate North Director Tahir Mehmood said in a statement that his authority had prepared a self-financed PC-1 of the project costing PKR 21,000 million, but had to draft another one for PKR 10,000 million and get it approved by the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2018-2019. The prequalification for the project has already been done, but the final approval has to be taken by the ECNEC.
The Islamabad Traffic Police Deputy Superintendent Arshad Chaudhry has said that traffic congestion on this route, with the existing lanes is inevitable and so there is a need to expand these at all cost.
