Rawalpindi: Divisional Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal disclosed that a proposal has been prepared to make Koral Chowk to Motorway Chowk section of Peshawar Road signal-free and efforts are been made to include it in the Annual Development Programme 2022-2023, according to a news story published on April 20.

A meeting was held to review the proposal of the project, which was attended by the development and planning director and concerned officials of the Punjab Highway Department. The commissioner revealed that the total cost of the project is estimated at PKR 10 billion. The proposal includes four underpasses and a flyover. The flyover will be developed at Ammar Chowk and underpasses will be constructed at Qasim Market, GHQ Chowk, Military Hospital Chowk, and GPO Chowk.

Moreover, the commissioner mentioned that the master plan and design of the said project have been prepared. The project will decrease travel time between Koral Chowk to Motorway Chowk, from one hour to 10 minutes. Reportedly, Commissioner Mengal stated that the PC-1 of the project has been submitted to the chairman of the Planning and Development Board, Lahore. He further added that the government plans to start a bus route on the signal-free corridor.
