Rawalpindi: The Punjab government on Tuesday (November 02) has awarded the tender for the game-changer Kohsar Tourism Expressway project to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), news sources reported. The government has also released a work order of the same to start the project at the earliest.

According to the details, FWO has been awarded a PKR 4.5 billion tender for the 123-kilometre-long tourism expressway, which will be completed in 18 months. The government has already released PKR 1.75 billion to start the work on the project in the current fiscal year. Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar is expected to lay the foundation stone of the project in the third week of November at Kahuta. Member National Assembly (MNA) Sadaqat Ali Abbasi said that the expressway will boost tourism and help open up massive investment and commercial opportunities for the region’s local and international tourist industries.

Furthermore, The tourism expressway, when completed, would connect the four districts of Rawalpindi, namely Kalar Syedan, Kahuta, Murree, and Kotli Sattian, with the Lower Toppa and northern parts of the nation. The project includes high-rise buildings, restaurants, rest stops, and motels on both sides of the road, which will help create jobs and strengthen the economy.
