Bajwa called it a historic day as the said hydel power project was the largest power sector investment — worth USD 2.4 billion — by a single Independent Power Producer (IPP). He added that following the PM’s directions for accelerating the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, all stakeholders had worked hard to reach this day.
The Kohala Hydropower Project is under development as part of the CPEC initiative on the Jhelum River in Azad Kashmir. The Kohala Hydropower Company Ltd (KHCL), which is a subsidiary of the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC), had received the contract for the project.
