Karachi: City Commissioner and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has cancelled the allotment of all KMC huts at Hawke’s Bay and directed the land department concerned to take control of said facilities, according to a news report published on December 1.

The allottees of these huts at Hawke’s Bay have been issued notices and it is communicated that legal proceedings will be launched against the defaulters.
According to reports, Shallwani stated that there as many as 254 huts of KMC had been allotted for a duration of three years. He added that these huts will now be auctioned as per their market value to boost the land department’s revenue. He opined that the decision to reclaim these huts had been made in order to make good use of the corporation’s assets.

Moreover, Mr Shallwani directed the land department to make the process of allotment and rent transparent.
