Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has notified its decision to issue tender documents only after advance payments amounting to 5% of project costs have been submitted by applicant contractors, a news source reported. The move is expected to help make the process of awarding contracts more transparent and efficient.

According to details, the KMC decided to impose the requirement of 5% down payment in order to ensure that only the contractors will participate in the tendering process. It is hoped that through this method the tendering process will not be compromised and the appropriate contractors will end up acquiring the contracts, after obtaining the tender documents.

In a related development, Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar met a delegation of the KMC Contractors Association. He vowed to resolve all the issues of the contractors working with KMC and promised that the dues of the contractors will be soon cleared.
