Karachi: Mayor Wasim Akhtar recently stated that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would provide alternate business spaces to tenants of the municipal administration whose shops were demolished during the anti-encroachment drive, according to news sources.
He was speaking to a delegation of the Lighthouse Traders Association headed by its president Hakeem Shah. The mayor added that the KMC would offer help to these traders to resume their business activity.

The step would also facilitate the shop owners of Lighthouse Lunda Bazaar (flea market). The mayor said that a team of KMC officers and members of Lighthouse Traders Association would conduct a joint survey of different areas and provide traders with alternative places for conducting their business activity.

Talking about the anti-encroachment drive in the city, he said that encroachments were removed from the parks, drains and pavement to assist the citizens’ mobility and help traders resume their daily businesses and not be hindered by the path-blocking encroachments.
