Karachi: The Metropolitan Corporation on Tuesday launched a drive to remove debris in Garden area – a news source reported.
The KMC officials had previously carried out an anti-encroachment drive around the Karachi Zoo locality. More than 400 shops were razed to the ground.

Three KMC team had been tasked to collect thousands of tons of rubble from the razed shops. Three more KMC teams were instructed to continue the anti-encroachment drive in area.
KMC will carry out a demolition drive inside the zoo in the next phase. The shopkeepers were earlier told to vacate the shops within one months’ timeframe.

The anti-encroachment drive is part of a wider campaign aimed at the restoration of Karachi Zoo. KMC will also carry out beautification and maintenance works.
The decision was made at a special meeting, which was presided over by KMC Commissioner Dr Syed Saifur Rehman. Recreation Senior Director Mansoor Qazi and other officials also attended the meeting.
