Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC)’s Parks Department has taken steps to retrieve thousands of acres of encroached land, according to a news report. According to an official from the Parks Department, the KMC has already briefed Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar about the matter as well and an application has been filed with the Supreme Court so the matter can further be discussed in detail.
A survey report has revealed that thousands of acres of land has been illegally converted into residential colonies and commercial centres. This land was initially allotted by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) to various parties. The cumulative worth of this land is expected to run into billions of rupees.
This report with the Mayor has all details of the encroached lands and appeals to the authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and help the KMC in retrieving this encroached land.
