Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) – acting upon the orders from the apex court – has issued evacuation notices to the owners of the four bungalows situated on Hill Park’s land in the city’s east district, according to news sources.

Director Anti-Encroachment (KMC) Bashir Siddiqui has revealed that the owners of these bungalows had been given seven days to vacate the premises. These structures are perched on the slope of 61-acre Hill Park.
These notices issued by the KMC informed residents that under the Removal of Encroachment Act 2010 they are illegal occupants of the unlawfully-created 38-G-1 plot (measuring 600 square yards), which is located within the amenity land of Hill Park.

The official verdict of the Supreme Court stated: ‘You are hereby required to remove aforementioned encroachment or illegal occupation of the constructed property within the premises of public recreation land at the slope of the Hill Park within seven days from receipt hereof positively failing which illegally constructed structure will liable to be demolished at your risk.’
Meanwhile, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani has been informed that the anti-encroachment operation in this regard will be executed on February 27.
