Karachi: The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) has recently revealed that more than 200 buildings located on I.I Chundrigar Road, Khalid Bin Waleed Road, and Sharea Faisal were constructed using substandard materials, as claimed by a news source on February 22.

According to the details, the buildings, situated on I.I Chundrigar Road, Khalid Bin Waleed Road, and Sharea Faisal, lacked proper planning, including essential features such as fire-fighting systems, emergency exits, and other necessary arrangements.

The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) approved these buildings without consulting the KMC, issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and completion certificates without conducting proper inspections. The report emphasises the urgent need for action against illegal constructions and those responsible for issuing NOCs.
