KMC Anti-Encroachment Department Senior Director Bashir Siddiqui led the anti-encroachment operation in the presence of police, rangers, city wardens, and officials of the East district administration. The operation was scheduled in February and September 2020, and in May 2021. It was delayed on the directions of former Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani.
The former commissioner had asked the KMC Land Department to do a survey and check the legality of the bungalows- 38/G/1, 38/G/1-A, 38/G/1-B/, and 38/G/1-C, and various other houses in the area before taking any action. The residents were served with eviction notices before Eid; however, they evacuated the houses earlier this week.
