Karachi: Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Director Kamran Alvi stated that the department intends to begin an anti-encroachment operation against encroachments in the districts of Korangi, West, and Malir, news sources reported.

The said drive’s initial phase will begin in the last week of September 2021. In a related development, the KMC anti-encroachment department demolished encroachments from Gulbahar and Peetal Gali in the Central District as part of its ongoing anti-encroachment operation. The operation was overseen by KMC Director Kamran Alvi and Deputy Director Masroor Iqbal. The police were also present to prevent any opposition.

In another development related to the anti-encroachment drive, the Supreme Court was informed on Thursday (September 23) of the anti-encroachment operation carried out in the local amusement park in the Gulshan Iqbal area. The commissioner told the court that the encroachments had been entirely eliminated and that the amusement park will be restored to its original state. The Supreme Court also directed the commissioner to expedite the debris removal procedure.
