Karachi: The newly appointed Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Monday (August 9) restored the defunct 1339 helpline of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to address citizens’ complaints against civic issues, news sources reported. The helpline will be available for the first 10 days of the Muharram month.

Reportedly, the helpline was inaugurated in 2017 by the then mayor, it was later rendered inoperable owing to a lack of funding and resources. Citizens of Karachi can now use the newly updated Citizens Complaints Information System Helpline 1339 to file complaints about sewage problems, road potholes, dysfunctional street lights, and other municipal issues. The complaint will be forwarded to the appropriate KMC departments by the hotline representatives.

Administrator Karachi Wahab said that collaborative efforts would be made to improve the city’s infrastructure by learning from the past experiences. The helpline will also work in close coordination with various civic bodies to better coordinate and resolve the issues.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of various religious sects and members of the law and order agencies and civic bodies.
