Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has directed the owners of apartments, business centres, houses, and offices situated near main highways and roads to redecorate the exteriors of their buildings, a news source reported on October 26.

The news source mentioned that the owners of buildings on main roads of Karachi including Sher Shah Road, Rashid Minhas Road, Sir Shah Sulaiman Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Abdullah Haroon Road, Ibn-e-Sina Road, SM Taufiq Road, and Shahrah-e-Pakistan were asked to renovate, paint, and redecorate the exterior of the buildings. If the directives were not followed, the KMC will take action under Chapter 15 Section (132) and Schedule VI of the Sindh Local Government Act 2013. The main purpose of this is to improve the aesthetics of the main roads.

Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab has mentioned that the residential, business and commercial centres were not given adequate attention because of the law and order situation. He went on to say that KMC is the largest local government entity in the city and has the authority to compel the building owners to maintain their structures.
