Karachi: City Mayor Wasim Akhtar presented a budget worth PKR 26.438 billion for the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20, a news source reported. Akhtar revealed the budget details during a meeting of the Council of KMC.

KMC proposed a sum of PKR 9.47 billion for different development schemes in the city. Meanwhile, over PKR 4.34 billion has been allocated for the provincial and district-wide Annual Development Programme (ADP).
According to the new budget documents, KMC has allocated funds for 700 development projects in the upcoming financial year. These include infrastructure, municipal services, culture & tourism, and transport & communication projects.

During the meeting, Akhtar also highlighted the details of the various development work that the municipal administration carried out during the outgoing FY 2018-19.
The budget meeting is expected to resume today, during which the council would give its approval to the KMC’s proposed budget.
