Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has taken over the charge of Askari Amusement Park, news sources reported on February 3. The park will be open to the general public from Friday (February 04), with free entry.

According to reports, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Parks and Horticulture Department took over management of the park following a two-member Supreme Court (SC) bench judgement. The department has agreed to take charge of the park established as a public amenity park and administer it for the public. Director General (DG) Parks and Horticulture Department Junaid Ullah Khan stated that, following the order of the SC Karachi Registry, demolition and anti-encroachment efforts are underway to remove unlawfully erected businesses and marriage halls.
Similarly, on Thursday (February 03), KMC dismantled many unlawfully erected stores and structures as part of an anti-encroachment effort in the South, Central, and Korangi districts. On occasion, anti-encroachment director Bashir Siddiqui stated that illegal constructions, stores, and make-shift eateries posed significant issues for pedestrians and automobiles.

It is vital to remember that the Supreme Court has mandated municipal administration to devise and implement measures to remove unlawful structures in the city and restore the city master plan.
