Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday (August 11) launched an anti-encroachment drive in the surrounding areas of Jamshed Road and MA Jinnah Road in the East district, according to media reports.

As per the details shared by the KMC Senior Director Anti-Encroachment Bashir Siddiqui, the campaign was conducted near the showrooms in the area. It was reported that the cars of showrooms displayed on the footpaths and roads were removed. The traffic congestion was a common problem in the area because of these cars. KMC Deputy Director Amin Lakhani, Sindh Police, and Traffic Police of the area were also present at the operation.
In addition to this, other types of encroachment were also removed. During the operation, illegally installed iron grills and many walls were razed.

Moreover, the corporation removed encroachment along several rain drains in the city. In the Central District, operations were carried out along Gujjar Nullah. In Orangi Town, the operation was held in four different parts of the Orangi Nullah.
