Karachi: Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar held a joint press conference on the matter of anti-encroachment drive, a news source reported. In the conference they stated that the actual victims of the ongoing anti-encroachment operation in the city would be compensated and a committee has been formed for the purpose.
They made it clear, however, that no compensation will be given to anyone who was involved in the encroachments. The committee, formed by the government, is headed by the Karachi commissioner. The committee will collect information and Sindh government with KMC’s help will provide alternative plots to these victims.
The minister said that that anti-encroachment operation will be conducted in other parts of the provinces as well.
The mayor speaking on the occasion said that the anti-encroachment drive is being conducted on the orders of Supreme Court and KMC will accommodate its tenants to its other markets.
